  1. Tune in Drop out Live life This is just as much a blue print to getting out of debt as it is a primer on how to live on a boat While the author has a libertarian bent there is no doubt that he has achieved that goal as much as possible without giving up his citizenship and disallowing Social Security and Medicare He has become like an indigenous person and lives.on very little and in very little space Other than needing fuel and electricity he is really a Green Pioneer More so than Al.Gore Why [...]

  2. A little over simplistic The author is humorous, but the message is repetitive, get rid of your stuff, get out of debt, live on a boat Lot s of people have no debt or write books on how to get out of debt, but not a lot realistic advice on how to budget for living on the boat, buying the boat, and how much you need before it s realistic.

  3. Great book I really enjoyed reading Ed s story He has some great words of wisdom on debt and being owned by your possessions It was also cool to read about places near where I live and play as well.

  4. For a quick read I actually enjoyed this and maybe when my kids go off to college I might buy a boat Ed has some great recommendations for living the simple life

  5. Discovered this author fairly recently Where has he been hiding on the high seas Loved it Humorous, informatative and makes me want to go and buy a boat Highly recommend even to landlubbers.

  6. I have been inspired to stop spending, pay off my debts and save money in order to live my dreams Thanks.

  7. This book has a lot of great advice If you re a hair away from retirement with a lot of valuable goods to sell I am glad I read it it was nicely motivational for an aspiring liveaboard, but I look forward to emailing the author a picture of myself aboard my future home, being tattooed and texting while still ten years from retirement from the day job I don t even remotely hate Born Floridians particularly those who aren t thrilled by an influx of self satisfied northern retirees or affluent and [...]

  8. Outstanding bookTake that leap and never look back This book actually tells you how to get out of debt, leave the hassles behind and live a good life I found it to be an excellent read.

  9. Ed definitely is on the money no pun intended with the mechanisms to get your financial life together, which is an essential part of getting to the liveaboard life Even if you re not headed that way, it s an enjoyable read about the path to, and enjoyment of, the liveaboard life and community.

  10. I usually avoid self help and motivational books There was only one that ever did anything for me back in the days But seeing that this book is about a guy who quit his job and went to live on a boat just made me want to read this one It does sound too awesome and I was interested in his experience.Ironically its the part of the books describing his experience that I found boring But for someone who already made up his mind to live on a boat they could be a valuable example to learn from. The mo [...]

  11. I received this book as a gift through , and I m not sure what to say about it I enjoyed it, and I didn t I found wisdom in it, and I didn t I could relate to it, and I couldn t Essentially, this book chronicles the author s journey from full time work to freedom I can relate to his desire to leave the working world behind, but not to become carefree boat bums and beachcombers I appreciated his wisdom in finding financial freedom though it is wisdom oft shared in similar stories simplify your li [...]

  12. Excellent bookEd I enjoyed all.your books, I have been both a blow boater and a power boater for 70 years Lived on the Ct Shore for 45 years and then met the love of my life in Nebraska. We movedtoFLORIDA on the west coast in Inglis and lived their for 12 years.Moved back to Nebraska a bour12 years ago But like the girl in your book Holly my wife missed her children and grand kids so we ended living jereinNebraska We used to go to Houston Every winter till I had a triple by pass and replaced my l [...]

  13. A pleasant short read for those who dream of lovers of the sea who fantasize of one day turning their backs on the normal world and living for themselves The author is fun, full of life, and does a great job of joining the descriptions of his life since moving onto a boat to carry the reader away to a better place It s not a novel on the details and intricacies of living aboard it is a broad overview of how he got there and what it is like The editing could have been better there s misspellings [...]

  14. More about philosophy, less about boatsI thought this might help me prepare to leave the Northeast and resettle in Fla on a boat I m looking for insight and pearls of wisdom It starts out ok but degenerates into Libertarian personal views on life Thanks but no thanks Fortunately on kindle unlimited it did not cost me beyond my time Which is otherwise too valuable for this rant

  15. This book was recommended to me by my husband who dreams of selling all of our stuff and living on a boat some day In fact he made me read the book as soon as he was done with it Even if living on a boat isn t your dream, it was a good book with great ideas on how to make living your dream happen His main theme sell your stuff, remove all of your debt, save as much as possible, then start living life your way As a book it was ok, not great, it felt like it lacked something.

  16. Good read Thoroughly enjoyed it, other than the part where I am still here If you are tired of The Game and know that life has to be than piling up crap until you die, give this one a read. While I found encouragement throughout this book, I what I found most encouraging was Ed s mentioning of Galena, MD and being from Smyrna DE I live right between them in Millington, for now Makes it seem that much doable when you find out a neighbor has done it.

  17. Like a whole bunch of people, this idea sounds wonderful to me Some portion of this book was useful in thinking through whether and how to do this, but really, quite a bit of the book was redundant political or philosophical ranting that I really don t care anything about A decent editor probably would have eliminated about 50% of the book to get rid of that stuff But again, I love the idea just wish it would have been executed better.

  18. A nice winter escapeI enjoyed this simplistic plan for an early escape from the rat race Especially since most of it was read in the midst of a Western New York winter Some good advice for all and some for a select few I m sure I will read of Ed s books, hoping to hear how his kids feel about his wonderful life 1000 miles away from them.

  19. Great story I recommend this book to anyone seeking inspiration We are in the process of doing just what Ed and Kim have accomplished and we love reading about those who have succeeded Less than a year left before we are ready to live that dream Thanks for the encouragement Ed

  20. When life just seems too complicated this read puts it into perspective A thoughtful piece on consumerism and simplifying ones life Light hearted and an easy read Follow the golden rules and free yourself Everyone can benefit from this even if you don t buy a boat

  21. Glad to hear we are on the right path I really enjoyed this book It was not only an enjoyable read, but also a wealth of information for making our dream of retiring on a boat a very close reality.
