  1. Save Me, Rip Orion is stylistically a cross between the southern fiction of Fannie Flag and the ultimate creepy guy that is Napoleon Dynamite Deeply emotional, infused with humor and extreme plot twists and turns, Bower presents us with a very human story Bower s characters aren t heroes and they re not anti heroes, they re real people trying to do the right things but not always sure what the best right thing might be In the end, the work the reader is presented is engaging in a very blue colla [...]

  2. UPDATE, 9 7 14 Apparently, I DID get the wrong copy The one I read was actually a draft that should not have been uploaded How I got it is a bit of a mystery, so, in fairness to the author, I m upgrading my rating because I did think the story had some potential, and I m not going to hold a mistaken upload against him I m going to leave my original review intact below Based on the other reviews, I m wondering if I got the wrong copy somehow, maybe a first draft, because the one I read was so poo [...]

  3. I always say, You can tell how good a book is by how quick you read it, and I read this book in a matter of just a few days The intriguing plot in which Bower created kept me fully engaged from start to finish while the chapters continually flowed with a constant purpose, making each character and dialogue so vital to the overall script Bower described events in such detail that the reader can effortlessly visual the images in their head as the events unfold It was impossible to put the novel do [...]

  4. This book was one of my bedtime reads Each evening before going to sleep I would read a few pages to help me simmer down Bad idea This monograph practically turned the pages by itself I was up late on than a few occasions I enjoyed Bower s ability to set a scene with regard to action and attention to detail The characters are right out of real life and one cannot help but envision them as actual people we have known The themes are gritty and forced me to come face to face with a few of my own f [...]

  5. I fully enjoyed this story The book reads smoothly with a consistent pace and enough twists that kept me up to finish it Matt s characters are well developed, and relationships come to life with little effort I love the various branches of the story, and how they are all bound together within the superhero theme Matt does a great job of creating a solid plot that is at once resolved and open ended as each character works through their individual issues I look forward to re reading it, and to see [...]

  6. I wasn t sold on this novel on the description alone The first part of the story is somehwat of a lighthearted whodunnit type novel, but then something happens that sends everything into a tailspin The plot was complex and the ending was unexpected The characters seemed real and related to one another well I took some issue with some plot details but nothing major Regardless, I was never bored by this book I liked how it exposed the limitations of fantasies It was a strange, unique book.

  7. A great first novel. This is an intriguing book, but it is important that you enjoy reading that kind of genre One member of my household called it a six star book, I thought it is a four star book, so we compromised 5 stars. The book may challenge some readers to reflect on their own phantasies, which is a good thing The book has enough twists to keep you reading I understand it is the author s first novel a good and solid effort I am looking forward to the author s next novel.

  8. Colorful characters, unexpected twists and turns, and vivid descriptions fill a book in which things are not always what they might seem at first Join the motley cast of Save Me, Rip Orion and you are sure to be entertained The author has a knack for descriptions that alone would have been good enough to keep me turning the pages I could feel the rubber grip on a golf club or a cold beer resting on a belly Looking forward to seeing from Mr Bower in the future.

  9. Don t we all secretly want to be a super hero Roscoe Solomon decided to be one, and it wasn t easy.Yes, this book does have some issues some of the characters are difficult to empathise with, some of the word choices are a bit heavy handed but overall the story is reasonable It s easy to criticize a writer s work but it s clear that the author has put in a lot of time and effort getting this together.

  10. Characters and scenes were well written and made it easy for me to visualize them both Plot took some interesting turns and kept me interested from beginning to end I found the ending a bit abrupt and left a lot for the imagination If that was the intent of the author, then kudos as I visualized a number of possibilities I understand this was the author s first book and wish him well for his second Thanks for the good read.

  11. This book has solid characters who come to life within the well developed plot I enjoyed the attention to detail It was nice reading a book that kept me on my toes rather than being predictable It makes you question good from bad and realize there is a fine line between the two Looking forward to the next novel.

  12. I don t usually like superhero inspired novels, but this one definitely held my interest The characters were all underdogs in some way and most of them were very relate able I loved the author s subtle humor and descriptions Fingers crossed for a sequel

  13. I normally do not read this type of novel but I m glad that I did It kept my interest from the beginning until the end and what happened at the end was a surprise to me
